This track got recorded in La Gomera with Thomas, Indra and Sven.
An allemande is a Renaissance and Baroque dance. The melody of the one used in this track dates back to the late 16th century, and Thomas has interpreted it on the guitar. We jammed together over it. Indra played the violin (as always, tuned a fifth lower thanks to 14″ viola strings) and Sven percussion, using an udu drum and a Maschine.
The track itself is quite short and we started looping it with effects to create patterns. It’s an abstraction of the original recording that you can hear in the beginning. Then, layer after layer, it got more abstract by using effects and digital techiques. The idea was to add extra layers of rythm by muting the violin and only playing it by hitting a pad on the Maschine. This is what creates the stutter effect.
It was lots of fun and we hope you enjoy it as much as we do!
